Aquatic ecology of the Mondego basin global importance of local experience

Results from ecological studies of the Mondego river basin carried out during the last 15 years are gathered in this book. Following a comprehensive introduction on fundamental physicochemical aspects of the system, the communities structure and diversity, nutrient cycle and plant dynamics, both in freshwater and in the estuary, are addressed.
